Our Inspection Service

Once an area is classified as hazardous, only electrical equipment that is suitably certified can be installed or used in that area and an inspection is necessary to verify. We can carry out a full inspection of all your installed electrical apparatus and produce a report detailing any measures necessary to ensure full ATEX / DSEAR compliance.

Our inspections are based on the following Standards:

  • BS EN 60079-17 Inspection and maintenance of electrical installations in hazardous areas
  • BS EN 60079-14 Electrical equipment for installation in hazardous areas
  • 1999/92/EC (ATEX 137) The protection of workers at risk from potentially explosive atmospheres Directive
  • 94/9/EC (ATEX 95) Equipment and protective systems in potentially explosive atmospheres Directive
  • DSEAR The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations

We can carry out the following types of inspections:

  • Periodic Inspections BS EN 60079-17 Part 3.2.5
  • Visual Inspections BS EN 60079-17 Part 3.2.1
  • Close Inspections. BS EN 60079-17 Part 3.2.2
  • Detailed Inspections BS EN 60079-17 Part 3.2.3
  • Sample Inspections BS EN 60079-17 Part 3.2.6

EX Audits
We can also carry out an EX audit of your installation which goes a long way to maintaining confidence in the integrity of explosion protection equipment and systems. A representative sample of EX equipment is inspected to determine the condition of the equipment and to monitor deterioration.
